Here it is, a new post. Take time to reflect on a book you are currently reading or have just finished. Tell your thoughts, give exciting details to lure a prospective reader in, but don't reveal the ending. I know...that is hard to do if you're excited about the book!
I finished Catching Fire last week and it was as awesome as Hunger Games. Katniss and Peeta have to go up against strong opponents in another round of Hunger Games. I can't wait for the third book to come out! I hope the author has it done soon!

The book im reading is called One Fat Summer. Its about a boy called Robert Marks who is a little on the heavy side. Roberts dad goes to the city and insists that Robert goes to a summer camp. But instead, he gets a job mowing lawns, cutting bushes, and even scraping leaves from the gutters for only 50 cents an hour. Even worse, a neighborhood bully always teasing and tourchering him. Can he make it through the summer without his family falling apart? I recommend this book to all 7th and 8th graders.
ReplyDeleteThe book I am currently reading is called The View from Saturday. I am about half way through the book. Right now, it talks about the four six graders that are competing together at the Academic Bowl in their school. Each chapter is about a different six grader on the team. This book tells how their "coach" picked them for the team. It is a good book. I should be finished by next week.
ReplyDeleteI am reading the book called "When The Phone Rings" By Harry Mazer. It is about a boy named Billy and he is currently living with his little sister Lori, his parents, and his older brother, Kevin, who is at college. His parents are away on a buisness vacation and the night that they are suppose to get back, Billy and Lori are cleaning the house for a surprise. When Billy gets a call from the airport to inform him of his parents flight he was excited, but then he heard that the plane had crashed and there was no survivors,he just couldn't believe it. Now Kevin, Lori, and Billy are going to have to live with only each other for their family support. I think this is a sad book but it caught my eye and is very intresting.
ReplyDeleteI'm reading the same book called The Lightning Theif. About a boy named Percy Jackson son of Poseiden, who is half boy, half god, he has been being chased by mythical creatures, like the minotaur now he is living in a camp called camp half-blood.
ReplyDeleteI have just finished reading Silverfin. It is a James Bond adventure while he was a kid. He has just joined a boarding school in London. A few weeks after he joins a wealthy man, Lord Hellobore has made a competition for the school. There were three parts. There was shooting, swimming, and the race. James had one the race but not the other parts. His enemy, was the son of that wealthy man. He bothered James even more after the race because he beat him.Soon after that he went to see his Uncle and Aunt in Scotland. One the train there he saw the boy and he tried to attack James but, a friend, Red, he help get on to the train was able to stop him. Once he got to Scotland he soon realized that his friend was there to. Soon he learned that Lord Hellobore had a castle on lake Silverfin. Him and Red went to check it out. James ended up being able to get into the castle. He was soon captured. He learned that Lord Hellobore was testing medicine that changes how people grow, develop, and control there body. He had tested o many pigs and even his brother. They worked at first but they went wrong. He soon tested on other people. They put him inside a cell for they night. He was able to dig a hole and drop into a cavern where he let eels get in and out of the loch. he found a tunnel out and was able to destroy his lab. Once he got out of the place he had taken a van and broke there the castle and got home. Lord Hellobore had soon moved to a different country. I have really liked how this book creates suspense for the reader.
ReplyDeleteI recently finished a book called Flush by Carl Hiaasen. This book is about a boy named Noah and his little sister Abbey and there father. There father is very passionate about the enviroment. When he gets too worked up about someone who is dumping the toilets from a casino boat into the harbor, he gets angry and sinks the ship. He goes to jail and it is all up to Noah and Abbey to prove that he is dumping the toilets into the harbor. Can Noah and Abbey think of a way to prove it was him? Read and find out.
ReplyDeleteThis would be a good book for anyone who likes mysteries or just funny books. And...who can resist a book with a toilet seat on the cover!
This sounds interesting but the book I just got done reading was awesome. It's called the Graveyard Book

ReplyDeleteam reading "PLANTING FOOD PLOTS FOR DEER". My book mainly talks about how to get more deer and bigger deer on your land. After the first 12 chapters it starts to talk about how to get more ducks, geese, turkey, and other birds. There are about 3 chapters that talk about the different food types.
ReplyDeleteI'm reading a wonderful book called A Walk to Remember. I love this book. It is about two people completely different from each other. They end up falling in love with each other. The boy in this book used to make fun of the girl he falls for. There are times when it goes downhill but they always seem to talk again. This book is by Nicholas Sparks, I think he is a really good writer.

ReplyDeleteI just got done reading Marley and Me. I did see the movie. However, I enjoyed the book much more. The main characters are John, Jenny and Marley. Marley is the dog. The best part was when John gave Jenny a necklace. Marley ate it. It did not digest for a few days. You can only guess how they had to find it. Needless to say, they were really mad. Another favorite part of the book was when Marley knocked over a flowerpot. What a mess!

Im reding a book called The 39 clues. I just started it and I love it. Theirs these 2 characters named Amy and Dan. There parents past away before there grandma. So they live alone with a babysitter because there aunt makes them. There aunts name is Beatrice. There grandma just pat away but she gives 40 people a choice on 1 milion dollars or a simple clue. What do you think Amy and Dan will chose?

ReplyDeleteI am reading a book called Double Identity by Margaret Peterson Haddix. This is about a girl that has been sent to live with he aunt, who she has never meet before. Her parents just left her there. She is very suspicious about her parents leaving her and her mom always crying. She heard something a bout a girl named Elizabeth. Bethany tries to find out who this girl is. Her aunt (Myrlie) is acting very strange and wont tell her anything about whats going on. I like this book because it is mysterious.
ReplyDeleteRight now I'm reading a book called Deadville by Ron Koertge. It's about a boy named Ryan, who's sister died from a brain tumor. Ever since she died he has been doing drugs. He is best friends with a guy named Andy and one of the girls in their school falls off of a horse and has to go to the hospital. When goes to visit her with Andy, it brings back memories of his sister. Now Ryan goes and sees Charlotte, the girl in the hospital. When a girl form his class named Betty sees him smoking, she basicly chews him out. Now he doesn't smoke anymore.

ReplyDeleteI am reading the book Island of the Blue Dolphins by Scott O'Dell. It is a book about this Indian group that lives on Island of the blue Dolphins. They are the only tribe on the island. Then one day some people on a ship from a different country arive to hunt sea otters. These people tried to leave without giving the tribe their fair share in the hunt. This leading to a fight on the sea shore killing over half the men. Days later they then elect a new chief. He then leaves to a different island to make a new place for them to live. Many moons past and finally a ship arives to take them to their new settlement. Karan a young girl that is apart of the tribe gets on the ship but notices her brother is not on the ship. She then sees her brother standing on the beach. Karan flings her self off the ship into the giant waves of the storm. Swimming back to the shore she drops her stuff to get rid of some of the weight. Now it is only her and her brother left on the island. As many days past her brother (Ramo) Decides he is electing himself as chief. Ramo decides he must become a man and go get the canoes they had hid in case the people from the other country that caused the war came back. Karan tells him he is not big enough to handle the canoe by himself. But when she wakes up in the morning her brother is not there. She then goes to the beach where he would arive when he had recieved the canoe. But he does not arive so she goes to the sight of where the canoes where. Then there standing in a circle are the pack of wild wolves surrounding her DEAD brother. She hurily chases the wolves off and picks up her brother and carries him to the village. All the way the wolves followed her in the dark brush. Then she grabbed a club and chased them over many hills to a cave clear across the island. Later on she burns down the whole village and moves to a rock where the wind is blocked and the wolves can not reach her. As time goes on she decides she need weapons to protect herself. But it against tribe rules for her to do that. She was told bad things would happen to her so she decides not to make them. That is all the further i have gotten at this point. It is a really good book.
ReplyDeleteI finised the book The Brave. Now I started The first book in the series called the Contender. Alfred Brooks is scared because his best friend is getting in with the wrong crowd. So Alfred goes to Doniteli's gym and starts training to be a boxer. When Alfred starts training his best James gets arrested for robbing the store Alfred works at. Alfred feels bad that he didn't tell James there was a new silent alarm in the store before James and his buddies left to rob the store.
ReplyDeleteI think I could read this book. It sounds interesting. One book I finished about two weeks ago called The House of the Scorpian was really. The book I'm reading now is called Ghost Ship. I'm halfway done with the book and I already like it. It's like A horror and a mystery combined.
ReplyDeleteI finished 2 books so far Alferd Kropp and the seal of solomon which was about a ring, (solomon from the bible) he made the ring to be like a leader to the demons that could slay the human race. In the other book Thirteenth Skull it was all about his blood and his skull. In the first book the he cut himself with the sword excalaber. That gave him the power to heal with his blood. Now back to the third book his skull was carved by merlin (the wisard) out of cristal. And other skulls, they're thirteen skulls, when all of the skulls are put in a circle the sword excalaber would come back to earth.(the sword went to heaven in the first book.)

ReplyDeleteI am currently reading a book ckalled Good Night, Maman by Norma Fox Mazer. It is about a mother, named Maman, her daughter Karin and her son Marc. They are all jewish and they live in Paris, France. The germans are coming and they are getting out so they stay and various houses with people helping them. Maman gets sick at one of the houses, Karin and Marc go off with out her and hope she is shortly behind. When they get to a city, they get on a boat that takes them to america. This is all I've read to. This is a wonderful book and I would recommend it.
ReplyDeleteI am reading a book called Hero's Don't Run by Harry Mazer. The main character's name is Adam and he run's into some problems with a kid named Babe. It is about a kid named Adam going to school after he was in the bombing of pearl harbor. There is this part when Babe and his friends make a fake note for Adam to go to the office for something and when he goes the kid who gave the teacher the note said hold on a second when they were walking by the bathroom. The kid pulled Adam into the bathroom when he wasn't expecting it. That is as far as i am.

ReplyDeleteIm reading a book called Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine. Its kinda like the cinderella story but instead of cleaning Ella is stuck under a spell by Lucinda the fairy. When Ella was a baby she had gotten a listening spell because she had always cried. Ella listens to every thing that she is told to do. Here mom had just died and her dad is getting ready to get married to Dame Olga. She has two daughters named Hattie and Olive. Hattie is older than ella by two years.
I'm just finishing up a book called Sea Star. It's about two kids Paul and Maureen they live with their grandparents. In this book the Paul and Maureen have this pony named Misty, she was orphaned by Paul when she was a baby. Further in the book two men flying in an airplane comes down to buy Misty to make a film. After Paul, Maureen and their grandparents sell Misty to the men they don't have another pony to fill her place. Towards the end Paul and Maureen's Grandma tells them to go get some oysters from the sea. When they get half way there is something on the beach running around and something else is just laying there. When they get closer they figure that it is a colt and the mother has died. Paul figures that they will gather the colt up and take him home. They wrangle him up, but they almost forgot about the oysters so when they have the colt in the boat Paul goes out looking for the oysters while Maureen stays there. When Paul gets back to the boat they think of a name to give the colt. They give him the name of Sea Star. That's as far as I have got!

Perry go's out and gets in the army and ends up deep in the Vietnam jungel he gets a frind named Pewee they keep together when thay are out on missins"the best they can". When perry gets hert and has to go to the hospitel at bace camp. After a missel hit nexet to him after he was better he was not hert bad enaf to go back to the states. When he was back with his platoon the nexed missin they went out on they had to take a hill they goined with 3 more patoons. The hill was more hevaly garded then they thot they could not storm it the were traped. then a plane droped a boom on the hill but it did not stop the VC's form shoting they made a brake across the rice paty at the bottom of the hill then another boom droped. It hit to close tho them he then has an outer boty expereanc. he waks up back to shooting they make it back to the tree line down the nexet hill they see a grop of VCs wipe them out but there was more the that littil grop. the heocopter could not land if they did not get rid of more of them they take a villeg and bernd it down the helacopter get ther they are saved but what the VCs are tring to take it down perry and the troop gets them. they get on the helocpter but its not over the helacopter is being boomed they make it out by a hair.
(P.S This book not for peapel that can't take blood ang guts i left out alot of detals. you all shoud read this book it is a gret 309 pages)

ReplyDeleteAlfred and Bennacio are chased by five dark nights on Suzuki Hayabusas, the fastest bike in the world. Bennacio started to shoot his bow and arrows one after another while driving 120mph down the interstate in a Ferrari Enzo. They get away from the Suzukis and then they run out of gas. They started to walk and then a patrol car pulls up and tells them to get on there stomach with there hads on top of there head. Bennacio tells the officer that he has a gun. So the officer checks him and finds notheing but a blow to a neck which knocks him out. They take the patrol car and drive down the interstate untill bennacio said that they needed a fast cat so they put on the siren and pulled over a Jaguar XLR. and pull the driver out at gun point and give him a signed blank check for his car. They drove to the Nova Scotia Airport in canada where the find a plane crash and three dead monks.

ReplyDeleteThe book i am currently reading is cald Scorpia. this is the fith installment in the alex rider series. Alex rider is a 14-year-old spy boy who lives in England (not James Bond!). In every book, Alex battles a new enemy. In this book he is fighting an organisanion called Scorpia. Scorpia stands for S-sabotage CORP-corruption I-inteligence A-assasination. As you can see, these people arn't the nicest bunch in town. I cant wait to keep on reading!

ReplyDeleteI am reading a book called Among The Hidden by Margaret Peterson Haddix. It is about a third child named Luke stuck with the population law meaning that parents could only have 2 children so Luke is stuck living in the attic hiding from the government. Luke's parents had to sell part of there land to the government to make more houses for people to move into. There was this one family that Luke called the Sports family that he seen a little girls face in the attic window and he was so surprised he stumbled off the trunk he was standing on.

Its about a girl named Raven and she grew up with her hippie parents, but when her brother she calls "Nerd Boy" comes into the world her world turns upside down. Raven's parents turn from being hippie to being conservative. Raven is different, when all the kid wanted to be nurses or firemen, she wanted to be a vampire. So on a hill is this gothic style mansion and people move in. So Raven and her best friend Becky sneak into the house one night and Raven saw her soul mate. Alexander (her soul mate) learns to trust and love her. The one night he find out that she belives all the rumors about him being a vampire and it breaks his heart and he stops talking to her. The town has a welcoming party at the mansion and at the last moment a bat flys by Raven and gives her a note that says "Because I Love You." Its an awesome I would recommend it.
