A group of seniors have been pulled from regular classes to get help from counselors. They resent being labeled as "problems", but they stick together. In his senior year, the main character Karl just wants to be normal and it lasts maybe a day. Interesting, sad, uplifting story that rises above the expectations I had for this book. I am reading another book by the fabulous author John Barnes. Grab it when you get to the high school stacks next year. Must read.
I am now reading a book called Divine by Karen Kingsbury. This book is about a woman named Mary Madison that was kidnapped when she was 10 years old. The kidnapper abused and used Mary until she was 15 when the police came and found her. Now, Mary tells her story to other abused women in a shelter in New York. When a woman with two young girls named Emma comes into the shelter, Mary feels led by God to spend her time on Emma. Soon, Mary feels Emma may leave and go back to her abusive boyfriend. If this happens, Emma will most likely be killed. This is a great book so far. Karen Kingsbury if one of my favorite authors. I would recommend this book to anyone.
ReplyDeleteIn The Book Thief the Mayor's wife invited Liesel in instead of giving her the laundry. She showed her the library and she let her read the books. On one of the days she was there she found a name. Johann Hermann. It turns out he had died but not why he is important. Liesel doesn't know is that her Step Father was in a war and one of his friends had taught him the accordion and he was Jewish. One day that man comes to his house and asks him if he still plays the accordion and that is how far I have gotten in the book.
ReplyDeleteRight now i am reading Abduction. It is about a little boy named Matt, who get kidnapped from school, with any one know, by his father. His father had left his family when he was a baby. When Matt's sister Bonnie find out he is missing she wanted to do anything and everything she can do to find him. When Bonnie's friends mom asked if she wanted to go to the ball game with her, she says yes. When she gets there and finds a kid that pulls on his ear like her brother did, she starts to think that its Matt. Matt and his dad are leaving the game and she follows them. When Matt turns around and sees his sister, his father Denny, get angry. He makes her go with him and Matt. They stopped at a restaurant to go to the bathroom. Bonnie and Matt sneak out the window but Matt's dad finds them.

ReplyDelete'The Wedding". Its another book from Nicholas Sparks. It's a love book, about a guy who hasn't been the most romantic husband. So him and his kids fake his daughters wedding. She helps pick out everything and he helps out so much and makes it a beautiful wedding. I'm not going to tell yo the end because it's the whole part in the wedding that makes it such a great book.

ReplyDeleteI just started reading "That was then, this is now" by S.E. Hinton. Its pretty good i think. Its about these boy's childhood named Bryon and Mark. Mark has lived down the street from Bryon his whole life and Mark's parents had both died so Mark had eventually moved in with Bryon.
ReplyDeleteI'm reading The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks It's about a girl named Ronnie, and her mother makes Ronnie and her brother, Jonah stay at there dads house for the whole summer. I just started this book today, so I don't know a whole lot about this book yet. A lot of people have told me that it's a really good book.
ReplyDeleteRight now i am reading The History of Iowa Hawkeye football. It's about all of the good players and there coaches. It starts out with a person that is arguably the best college player Nile Kinnick. The Hawkeye's stadium is named after Kinnick. It tells of Dallas Clark who went to the Indianapollis Colts. It tells of the two only numbers retired it Hawkeye football Nile Kinnick and a lineman these two guys both died serving there country. Nile died in a plane crash and the lineman i think did too.
ReplyDeleteI read a book called Lioness Rampant its the sequel to The Women Who Rides Like a Man. Alanna goes to this city to help with translation and finds this man named Laim and he is the Shang Dragon one of the best fighters. Well she goes to find this Jewel called the Dominel Jewel. This jewel can control the world. So her Coram and Laim goes and try to find the jewel. The jewel was located at a town called Top of the World. So they travel there and this blizzard comes and they have to stay in this inn. While staying in the inn some fortune teller says that she is to go and get the jewel during the blizzard. But Laim tries to stop her but she wakes up and sneaks out she goes through the blizzard and finds this mountain and climbs the mountain then she has to fight this big ape to get the jewel but during the battle she says she doesn't want to kill him so he gives it to her. After that they go to a town called Tortall and gives it to the a king to be but people are trying to kill him before he becomes king. That's all I'm telling you.....
ReplyDeleteRight now I'm to the final chapters of The Lovely Bones. It's starting to get a little more intimate. Continued from where I last stopped. Life goes on..Mr. Harvey moves away,Mother leaves father, Lindsey get engaged! But the only one left is 12 year old Buckley is left all alone and has no one. Hal Lindseys' boyfriends brother starts to hang around with Buckley more and more and more. Lindsey's Grandmother Lynn moves into there home to take care of Buckley and Father since now Lindseys on her own. I hope this book doesn't end up with a crash its getting pretty good!!

ReplyDeleteI am reading a book called People of Sparks. It's the sequel of the City of Ember. It's about the people from Ember found a town called Sparks. The town leaders lets them stay but only for six months. The leaders send them to the pioneer hotel. to stay and have them do work in the town. That's what I'm at so far.

ReplyDeleteI am still reading Rules of the Road. It is about a girl called Jenna Boller who sells shoes at Gladstone Shoes. But When Madeline Gladstone asks Jenna to chauffer her around the country, she accepts. Mrs Gladsotne is 73 and is going to retire soon so she is going to leave her store to son. But her son wants to chand the name of the company and ruin the good quality. So While on the road, Mrs. Gladstone has Jenna snoop around her sons stores looking for flaws.

ReplyDeleteRight now I'm reading Hit and Run by Lurlene McDaniel. It's about a girl who is riding home one night on her bike around 11:30 P.M. and gets hit by a car. Quin, the guy who hit her, is a all-star baseball team player that had been drinking and at a party. He lied and said that he hit a deer. Now Analise, the girl who got hit, got found and is the hospital in a coma. Laurie, the girl who was on a date with Quin, knows what Quin did and is using it against him. So far it is a great book.
