Miss Horst gave me this book as a gift. What a wonderful gift this was because I loved this book. I will read it again! It is a story told from the viewpoint of black "colored" maids in the 1960's, who work for white ladies. It tells the injustices they face in a way that makes you smile and cry at the same time. Wonderful book! Please tell me what you're reading now that you're struck with spring fever! What could be better than opening the doors and windows and reading while listening to the tree frogs and feeling the fresh spring air.
I am reading a book called breaking rank. It is about this group of kids who call themselves the Clan. The kids in there school think they are scary but they haven't done anything. This book is kind of good but there is some boring parts.

ReplyDeleteRight now I'm reading another book from Nicholas Sparks, called "Message In A Bottle". I love this book, it's about this girl named Theresa who got divorced. While she's running on the beach she finds this message in a bottle and she finds out that a guy named Garrett wrote it. She loves how deep he is and how much he still loves his dead wife. She tries to find him and when she dose there falling for each other. I'm not done yet but I already know that I'm going to love it!
ReplyDeleteI am currently reading a book called The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold. This book is about a girl named Susie Salmon who is murdered by a man named George Harvey. Susie is coming home on a snowy day, and she takes a shortcut through the cornfield, where she meets up with Mr. Harvey. Although I don't want to say how Susie is murdered, cause it will ruin the book! But later on in the book Susie's sister Lindsey takes control. Lindsey gets a boyfriend and she starts to experience things she's never before. One day her father wants to break into Mr. Harvey's house. So...Lindsey decides to do it on a day she was playing soccer with the boys! That's as far as I am.

It's about a girl named Leyla, at the beginning of the book Leyla asked her step-sister to let her meet her mother, her father greatest love. Leyla visits Janie until she dies. This is as far as I have gotten but it's a very good book so far.
ReplyDeleteI'm reading a book called "The Woman Who Rides like a Man. and it's about this girl who becomes a knight. She travels all around the world and she can use magic. She is traveling in the desert and gets attacked by people. She's fighting these people and then this tribe comes in and helps. But then they tell her they were trespassing on their territory and ask why they shouldn't kill her and she has to prove she won't harm them but she has to fight one of them to the death for them not to kill her. She wins her duel even though she didn't kill the man. So she's living in this tribe and she accidentally kills the shamen and becomes the shamen and she doesn't want to be the shamen so she teaches two other girls named Kari Kameria. A shamen is a person who can use magic and protects the town. Then she leaves to go visit a friend and his name is George Cooper who is the king of thieves. But someone named Claw sends a maid to poison George so George goes to ask him questions and so she leaves to go back to the desert… That's all I can tell you so you should read the book it is a good book to read………

ReplyDeleteRight now I'm reading a book called Goldengrove by Francine Prose. It's about a girl named Nico. Her sister had a heart condition and one day Margret, Nico's sister, and Nico are out in the boat. Margret jumps in the lake to swim and when she doesn't come back up Nico gets worried. Nico paddles to the dock and asks her parents if they have seen her sister and they say no. Nico's family call someone and they come and look in the lake. they find Margret's dead body. Now Nico is trying to get over her sisters death and does it by hanging out with her sisters old boyfriend, doing things that they did with Margret together. I'm only halfway through the book right now but it is good so far
ReplyDeleteI am currently reading a book called The Other Boy by Hailey Abbott. I have only read like the first ten chapters, but it is pretty good. It's about a girl named Maddy Sinclaire. The summer has just started and her parents had just left and were leaving Maddy home alone for the whole summer. Maddy decides to throw the best summer party at her house. It all goes good until her parents walk in during the party while Maddy and her friends are having a good time. Maddy's parents decide to punish her by taking her with them to their vineyard in Napa to help out, for the whole summer! After a couple of days of work, Maddy gets introduced to a boy. This boys name is David. Maddy gets the chance to work the whole summer with David, and starts to fall in love with him. I'm not very far in this book but I am really starting to like this book.
ReplyDeleteI am reading The Book Thief right now. It is about a girl named Liesel that lives in Nazi Germany. By the title you can tell she steals books. In the book she is taken in by a family that lives on Himmel Street. She steals her first book when her brother is buried. The book is called "The Grave Diggers Handbook". She can't read or write. So her her Step Father teaches her and her Step Mother has her pick up clothes for her job so people won't stop paying them. This a very good book and I would recommend it to everyone.
ReplyDeleteI am currently reading Divine by Karen Kingsbury. This book is about a woman named Mary Madison that was abused and used as a child. She tells her story to other abused women to help them leave drugs and become safe. One day a single women with two little girl named Emma comes in to the shelter where Mary works. Mary decides to spend all her time with Emma because she knows if she doesn't Emma will go back to her abusive boyfriend and get killed. This is a very good book. I would recommend it to anyone.

And I thought I was unpopular... but this kids actually INVISIBLE invisible,like nothing is there invisible. he stays home from school, so the police get... oops I'm saying too much. you'll have to read on to find out more.
ReplyDeleteI am now reading Left For Dead. It is where a boy studies the gruesome history of the USS INDIANAPOLIS. He does a history fair project on it. It was amazing but they kicked him out because he showed the letters that the sailors wrote. But then the governor found out about it and went to talk to the boy about it. While this was happening the captain of the ship was arrested for no reason. Even the sailors knew something was fishy about it. The family members tried to clear the name of the captain but they couldn't so the boy is going to help to try to clear the captains name. In the book while you read it. It tells stories of what happened on the USS INDIANAPOLIS. Plus, it has pictures of the crew. And from there i kinda summed it up................ Did u get the fish joke it was funny to me it tells something crazy about the water and fish and SHARKS. Yes Sharks. O.k. but this is a good book you men should read it girl i don't know they're reading in Vampire world, know what i mean. O.K. Men this is a good book.

ReplyDeleteI just finished the Lovely Bones. Its about a girl who got killed by her neighbor and no one knows that it was him. She tries to help her dad find her killed. The person who killed her had moved away after a couple years. The end was really good and i suggest it to everyone.
ReplyDeleteAs a birthday present I got a book. It was called Hush, Hush. This book was incredable and the day i started reading it I didn't sleep because I couldn't put it down. Imagine you get stuck with a new lab partner and you no absolutly nothing about him. Hes mysterious, dangerous, and can be sweet. But he give you some weird vibs. Thats what happens to Nora, and the lab partners name is Patch. He is all these things...on the surface. Under the surface he has a lot of secrets. He has a very disparing past. He is a fallen angel and he wants to become human so he can have feeling (he doesn't feel because hes an angel) and his ex wants him to be an angel again but the only way to do that is to save someones life and become a Guardian.He has to save Nora's life...which is in danger because he wants to kill her. He wants her body because if he gets it he becomes human. But along the course of this book he starts to have feelings for her. She is also in danger from someone named Jules, who is nephilium (1/2 human, 1/2 human). He has been alive for a long time and for two weeks every year patch takes his body and does whatever he wants and Nora is his great (x like 12) grandaughter. If Nora is killed by Patch he becomes human and if Jules kills her patch stays an angel. It is a happy ending but you have to read it to find out! I'll lend it to you if you ask!
ReplyDeleteI'm now reading the book called the Titan's Curse. It is the 5th book in the Percy Jackson series. Percy and his fellow half-bloods have discovered 2 new half-bloods. While at Westover discovering the Half-bloods Percy's friend Annabeth gets lost.
ReplyDeleteI just started reading "That was then, this is now" by S.E. Hinton. Its pretty good i think. Its about these boy's childhood named Bryon and Mark. Mark has lived down the street from Bryon his whole life and Mark's parents had both died so Mark had eventually moved in with Bryon.
