I'm very pleased at your excitement over your books. I can't believe what I'm going to ask. Could you limit your blogs to no more than 10 lines? I'm afraid people are giving up reading the long ones. So, 6-10 lines, be concise, with just enough detail to tempt us all to read without telling too much. It's a skill, to describe and summarize,--all with just the right amount of pizazz. You can handle that can't ya?
Also, I'm grading down people with mistakes, like capitalizing titles and spelling basic simple words correctly. Give it a quick glance for correctness before you post your comment, ok?
Inkheart was a great read. Phenomenal. A father who is a gifted reader, reads aloud to his wife and daughter every night, with such a flair for storytelling that characters of the book step out of the book. Actually, they come through his front door. The book he's reading aloud is called Inkheart, and the characters to emerge are evil through and through. More bad news, his wife is sucked back into the book and disappears. He stops reading aloud for fear more bad will happen and spends his life trying to find her and protect his daughter from the evil ones. Capricorn, the most treacherous, terrorizes wherever he roams. It is a page turner.

I am still reading the book When The Phone Rings. I am at the part where Billy and Lori have all of their family over and they just got done with a memorial for their parents. Their family is helping them pack up and Lori is suppose to move in with her Grandma and Billy is suppose to move in with his aunt and uncle. Billy does not want Lori, Kevin, and him to split up. He is trying everything for Kevin to stay home from college so that the family will stay together. I like this book and i would suggest it to anyone!
ReplyDeleteI am currently reading Catching Fire, the sequel to Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. I have just started it so I am not very far. Katniss Everdeen is just trying to forget the Hunger Games when an unexpected twist happens. Together, Peeta and Katniss must face the consequences from the Capitol because they have started an uprising. I hope Peeta and Katniss repair their damage and do not get hurt.
ReplyDeleteI finished the book called The Contender. Alfred ends up retiring after 4 fights because Mr. Donateli tells him he doesn't have enough ambition in the ring. Alfred ends up finding James again at a party in the club house. He finds that James is struggling with a drug addiction. Then James keeps asking him for money for a fix. At the end of the book Alfred finds James seriously cut and bleeding and takes him to the hospital.
ReplyDeleteI am currently reading Evil Star. It is a very interesting book. It is the second one of a series. In the book the Main person is Matt. He is said to be one of the 5 gatekeepers. He is in a school where he is treated badly. After a few days there his adoptive mother stole and drove a fuel tanker into the school to get back at Matt. Matt had foreseen this a few minutes early. So he pulled the fire alarm to get every body out. Then Nexus, the organization protecting him comes to ask him a question. They want him to get a diary written by the Mad Monk of Cordoba. So they could find the second gate in Peru. Then while he is trying to prove hes one of them, the man with the diary is murdered and the diary is stolen. He then travels to Peru but is stopped by the police for having a fake passport. He then gets lost and is taken to poison town. A run down village. The boy who takes him is another one of the five. They can meet and talk to each other in dreams. They then head for the man who toe the diary, Diego Salamanda, the richest man in Peru. That is around how far I have gotten.
ReplyDeleteI am reading Freedom Writers. It is abook about a teacher who works at a school as freshman english teacher. At this school the kids are very judgemental. They judge people by there race. In lunch class, and even oput side of school races do not mix. Ths reacher her name is Mrs.Gruwell she wants to change that. In her trying to change the way they think she teaches they about the holocaust. She wants them to realize what they are doing can turn into. Most od the kids in this story live in the projects and have little or no money. Some of the kids live in the alleys in the streets. Some of them even carry guns on them becuasew they are afraid to go to school and walk home again with otu getting beat up or even killed. Mrs.Gruwell on top of her teaching job works at a hotel and a general store so she can afford to but these kids books and new materials because the school will not provide them. The school thinks that the kids are not smart enough and that they dont deserve it. So Mrs,Gruwell buys the materials her self because she believes in them. She also buys them all journals to write down anything they want. But they have to write every day. They have choice to put in a locked cabinet if they want her to read t but they dont have to. Over time the different races in her class become friends. Thats all im going to tell so i dont completely ruin the book. It is proball the best non-fiction book i have ever read.
ReplyDeleteI am reading One Fat Summer. It is about a fat kid living in a summer home with his mother, father, and his sister, Michelle. His father wants him to go to a camp but Robert marks ( the fat kid)doesn't want to go. He found a job mowing grass for Dr. Kahn. His parents don't know about it.
ReplyDeleteYou know I think I might read this. My brother read the whole series. Though I'm more for ghost stories I'll when I can. I'm curious about the book. I'll try to read it. Hopefully I'll get to read the Hunger Games soon.
ReplyDeleteContinued..... Mr. marks goes through a adventure of his own. He faces bullies, his friends surgery, losing weight, and M. Kahn's lawn. In the end it was a exciting summer for Mr. Robert Marks.
ReplyDeleteI am still reading Double identity and hopefully soon to be on a new book. I am thinking about reading Deadville or One Fat Summer. In my book bethany found out that she might be a clone of her dead sister. Then her dad sends a package that has a lot of money in it and something like a letter but not really a letter. It said things like what he wanted to say ina letter but didn't. One part of it said " He is chasing me. He is hunting me down. Thought he would stay in prison." I cant wait to read the rest.
ReplyDeleteThe book I finished was The Lightning Theif by Rick Riordan. It was about a boy named Percy Jackson, son of Poseiden who goes on a quest in search of Zeuses lightning bolt and Hades Helm of Darkness. Percy has ten day to get from New York to California and back with the gods items before the winter solstice in Olympus. A part I thought sounded painful was when Percy was fighting Ares god of war and Percy sliced the back of Ares foot.
ReplyDeleteRight now I am reading a book called Thirst by Christopher Pike. I'm not that far into the book but I started last night and I got about 120 pages into the book. The main charactor--she doesn't have a single name, she must change them--is a 5 thousand year old vampire. She is very strict about what she eats, but when the person who created her comes back she has to break all of her rules so that she can defeat him. But before all of this happens she meets a guy named Ray and slowly falls in live with him. He is the only one who can help her, but also hase every reason to fear her. This book is very suspencful--so far--and I would suggest it to anyone who loves suspence and love stories.

ReplyDeleteI just read the third book in the contender boxing saga, The Chief. Sonny is on the road to the heavy-weight championship. But after knocking Hubbard Senior and Jr. after a fight he is suspended, so he goes to Hollywood. Then his great uncle Jake gets shot so he return to New York. Then Sonny is on a mission as a Running Brave to save the reservation.
ReplyDeleteI have just started the book called Escaping the Giant Waves by Peg Kehret. I think thst it is gunna be an intresting book. It's about a 13 year old Boy named Kyle who is going to Oregon with mother, father, and his sister, BeeBee. He wants to go so he can figure out a way to make the class bully, Darren to leave him alone. But then he finds out that Darren will be attending the same vacation as him and the same hotel.
ReplyDeleteRight now I'm reading the book called Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. When Prim, the main characters sisters, name gets drawn at the reaping to go to the Hunger Games, Katniss, the main character, takes her place. Katniss goes to the Capitol with Peeta, the boy that's name got drawn at the reaping, and they train, try to get sponsors, and have interviews. When Katniss and all the other tributes have interviews, Peeta, says he is in love with Katniss. Now the games have begun. This is a really good book.
ReplyDeleteI Just started The Series of Unfortuneate Events Series By Lemony Snicket. Im on the second book now called The Reptile Room. Its about the 3 Baudelaire children Violet, Klause, and Sunny whos wealthy parents die in a fire that burned down their huge mansion. The children are forced to live with a mean, hideous man named Count Olaf who tries to get ahold of their forture but cant because Violet is not old enough. So Count Olaf threatans to kill Sunny if Violet does not marry him. They almost get married but violet uses her left hand instead of her right so the marrige is not leagle and Count Olaf runs away.
ReplyDeleteI'm reading a book called Dragon Rider. I am only at page 27 out of 534 so I rely can't say much. But so fare the the book is good. It's when a valley full of dragons is about to be fill with water and the dragons whont leave becous they are scard of humens!

ReplyDeleteI am reading Hatchet. In this book Brain is going to his dads and is going to get on a single engine plain.The pilots had a hart a tack. Then Brain had to drive the plain. Brain is flying then ran out of gas. Brain is costing in the air. He starts to see trees and lakes then does not see any lakes then again sees lakes and has the plain aimed for the lake.
ReplyDeleteI'm reading a book called Dangerous Girls by R.L. Stine. It's about two twin sisters names Destiny and Livvy Weller, and they go to Camp Blue Moon and their lives change. This guy named Renz is a vampire and bites the girls and they get home and their blood-thirsty. Later in the story they find out their are vampire hunters in Dark Springs, where they live. There eyes start getting sensitive to the light there becoming inhuman. They run super fast when the vampire hunters come after them. I would recommend this book to anyone that likes vampire stories.
ReplyDeleteThe book i am reading is the first of a long sequence called Among The Hidden by Margaret Petersen Haddix. It is about an illegal third child named Luke. At this time there was a law called the population law which ment parents could only have 2 children. One day when Luke was looking out a vent he saw another third child in his neighbors house. After that he ran over and broke into there house and they became good friends until one day when his friend Jen decided to make a rally with all of the third children. After the rally Luke found out that Jen got shot dead by the Gov.

ReplyDeleteI just started a book called Misty's Twilight. The starts like this. It's a Saturday morning during the spring. Two kids Pam and Chris are having their birthday. So their mom Sandy is planning to go somewhere very special for their birthday (a place where they want to go.) So Sandy takes them to Chincoteague to a Pony Penning Day to buy ponies at the auction. When the auction day comes they bought two ponies a horse and a baby foal. When they take them home Sandy has a visitor come over and he wants to breed Sunshine to one of his stallions. That's as far as I have got.
ReplyDeleteI am reading a book called Baby. The book is by Patricia MacLachlan. It's about a baby that is in a basket and they found it on a doorstep. The baby's name is Sophie. The mom wants the baby to try to say "Papa", but the dad don't want her to. Lalo was trying to teach her how to play patty cake. Sophie pronounces Lalo's name as La. Lalo is the her brother and Sophie don't want Lalo to go to school. She would stand up with her hands on the door.

Right know i am reading a book called perfect chemistry by Simone Elkeles. The two mane characters are Brittany and Alex. Brittany's sister is Shelly and her boyfriend is Colin. It all started when Brittany ran into Alex's motorcycle. In the parking lot Alex and Brittany had exchanged of words. When they got in the school they had chemistry class and now they are lab partners. I think by the end of the story Alex and Brittany are gonna fall in love. I think that the conflict will be that Alex is in a gang.

It tells her good and bad stories in her life. Thing about her sisters weading and that the storis she and her friends tell to each other. Her mother is a painter. Her mother adoped her cousion and she gets told about in this book also.
ReplyDeleteI am reading a book Tree Castle Island. This book is about a boy who set out in a canoe. For an Island called paradise Island in his canoe he made himself. He was going through the swamp and a mammoth aligato r attacked the canoe and put a big hole in it. He swam for shore and pulled the canoe up ouy of the water there was a big hole in the canoe so it was hard to get out of the water.

Zues and Posiedan are having a fight because Zues lost his master bolt and he thinks Posiedan stole it. So Percy is on a quest to find it and he only has ten days before the war between Zues and Posiedan. The master bolt is in the underworld as Percy thinks that Hades stole it and framed Posiedan so Percy will go fighting monsters along the way with his friends Annabeth and Grover. Do you think he will make it?
I am reading a book called Fallen Angels. Peewee and Perry are on night watch duty and they are there for a while and dont see any thing then Peewee sees somthing in the darkness and starts firing his M-16 Then everybody in the squad starts fireing. Perry pulls his trigger but nothing happend. their commander comes over and told Perry that he forgot to reload hid gun. The squad pulled a VC regular out of the darkness
ReplyDeleteI just starded a book called fablehaven: Rise of the Evening star. so far, Seth and Kendra have been atacked by a dullion(fake golum), Bitten by a demon frog statue, and have been told that fablehaven might be in the cross-hairs of a secret society that wants to destroy the world. as you ca see, this isn't the cherriest book around. i cant wait to read more.
